DA OLTRE 900 ANNI
L'ordine è nato così, a partire dalla prima crociata del 1099: con Ospedali a Gerusalemme, in Terra Santa e lungo i percorsi dei pellegrini, con monaci guerrieri a protezione di queste oasi, da saraceni e predoni.
E’ un lungo pellegrinare quell’Ordine per circa 7 secoli (Cipro, Rodi, Malta) fino alla sua frantumazione, operata da Napoleone, nel 1798, con l’espulsione dei Cavalieri da Malta.

In un mondo sempre più triste, dove la cronaca ci dirige solo verso nefandezze e perdita dei valori umani, è un obbligo, per chi si professa, seppur laico, “Cavaliere, difensore degli oppressi, degli orfani, dei poveri, degli ultimi della terra”, testimoniare la propria Fede, il proprio essere ed i propri ideali!
Per cui la nostra missione, uguale da oltre 900 anni, oggi si deve arricchire della nostra testimonianza e del nostro esempio per poter così dare una notevole impronta di “valore”, soprattutto ai giovani.
Ai Cavalieri di San Giovanni chiediamo una maggiore responsabilità etica, una chiara scelta di testimonianza di vita e l’opportuna trasmissione, soprattutto appunto ai giovani, dei “valori umani”.
